Turnip Bake Recipe

Serves: 4

Cooking Time: 50 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) turnip
  • 1 lb (450 g) potatoes
  • 1 oz (25 g) butter
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 16 fl oz (500 ml) double cream
  • salt
  • freshly milled black pepper

Instructions

Prepare the vegetables

  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Rub a large shallow baking dish with butter.
  2. Peel and cut the turnips and potatoes into slices.
  3. Crush the garlic and chop the thyme.
  4. In a bowl mix the vegetable slices, garlic, thyme, salt and pepper to taste.


Bake

  1. Gently heat the cream and bay leaf but do not allow to boil.
  2. Place the vegetable slices in the baking dish.
  3. Cover with the warmed cream and dot with butter.
  4. Bake in the oven for 50 minutes.

Serve

Served hot as a side-dish
