Turnip Bake Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) turnip
- 1 lb (450 g) potatoes
- 1 oz (25 g) butter
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- 16 fl oz (500 ml) double cream
- salt
- freshly milled black pepper
Instructions
Prepare the vegetables
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Rub a large shallow
baking dish with butter.
- Peel and cut the turnips and potatoes into slices.
- Crush the garlic and chop the thyme.
- In a bowl mix the vegetable slices, garlic, thyme, salt and
pepper to taste.
Bake
- Gently heat the cream and bay leaf but do not allow to
boil.
- Place the vegetable slices in the baking dish.
- Cover with the warmed cream and dot with butter.
- Bake in the oven for 50 minutes.
Serve
Served hot as a side-dish
